Naivasha is a useful Rift Valley staging town between Nairobi and Nakuru, supporting a rest, an overnight, and the next northbound road stage.
Its position on the A104 breaks the road journey and keeps the descent into the lake basin visible before the circuit continues north to Lake Nakuru.
Rain can slow the escarpment and onward roads; an early departure leaves more daylight for reaching Nakuru.
