Its scale and openness offer a different Safari from Tsavo West's springs, hills, and lava country. River corridors, dams, and rocky lookouts become important reference points across the park.
Elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, antelope, hippos, crocodiles, and rich birdlife occupy open plains, acacia and commiphora bush, the Galana and Tsavo river systems, and water points such as Aruba Dam. The Yatta Plateau forms a long volcanic boundary.
The park is open throughout the year. Drier conditions often concentrate wildlife near water and simplify some roads; rain changes vegetation, visibility, and access.
Voi Gate is the western entrance used by this circuit. Kenya Wildlife Service also lists Bachuma, Manyani, Mtito Andei, and Sala gates for other approaches.
A full day can introduce the Voi sector, while the park's size supports a longer stay when traveling deeper toward its river and northern landscapes.
