Why safari here?

Shaba adds geographic range and a quieter eastern landscape rather than duplicating the contiguous Samburu–Buffalo Springs visit.

Wildlife & landscape

Broad plains, acacia and commiphora scrub, riverine woodland, and rocky slopes support elephant, big cats, kudu, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and varied birdlife.

When to go

The remote tracks need current local advice in every season; dry weather is generally easier, while rains affect roads and rivers.

Gateway & getting there

Reach Shaba through Isiolo on a separate eastern approach. It is a short drive from the Samburu–Buffalo Springs cluster, not the same reserve or gate system.

Typical visit

Plan a deliberate full-day or overnight extension rather than trying to cover all three reserves in one rushed drive.
