How the route joins up
Travel times and access inside protected areas vary with weather, water, park rules, and track conditions. Confirm current guidance locally.
Nairobi → Kisumu
This is an optional scheduled air transfer. No line is drawn because an operating flight path is not a surface route.
Kisumu → Kisumu Impala Sanctuary
Follow the prepared city-road geometry to the neutral drive-in entrance rather than asserting a named gate coordinate.
Kisumu Impala Sanctuary → Kakamega
Return through Kisumu and follow the mapped A1 corridor north to Kakamega.
Kakamega → Kakamega Forest National Reserve
Continue toward Webuye and Eldoret, then use the prepared forest approach to the reserve gate.
Kakamega Forest National Reserve → Ndere mainland access area
The road geometry is mapped to the Bao Beach area, but the final public access handoff is approximate and must be confirmed locally.
Ndere mainland access area → Ndere Island National Park
Travel by arranged boat on an explicitly approximate corridor. The actual boarding point, course, and island landing vary.
Ndere Island National Park → Ndere mainland access return
Return by arranged boat on the same approximate corridor; this is not a fixed operator track.
Ndere mainland access return → Homa Bay
Continue by the prepared road route through Kisumu, Katito, and Kendu Bay. No direct Ndere–Homa Bay water route is assumed.
Homa Bay → Ruma National Park
Follow the mapped Kadio–Malela and D213 approach to Kamato Main Gate, allowing for current road conditions.
