From Mombasa, cross at Likoni and follow the Likoni–Ukunda road toward Kombani, then turn inland for Shimba Hills Main Gate. Kenya Wildlife Service describes the reserve as roughly 37 km south of Mombasa.

Best time: Plan a daylight visit. Kenya Wildlife Service currently lists gate hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for day visitors; confirm current fees, access, and trail arrangements before leaving Mombasa.
