Using Buhoma keeps this first circuit true to the northern approach from Queen Elizabeth instead of adding Kabale or Kisoro as artificial through-stops.
Forest visits require advance permits and current UWA guidance; rain can make trails and approach roads slower.
UWA identifies the Mweya–Kihihi–Buhoma road as the direct northern link from Queen Elizabeth, much of it on dirt roads.
