Tarangire makes seasonality easy to understand. The river remains a lifeline as surrounding pans dry, drawing elephants and other wildlife into a landscape of baobabs, woodland, floodplain, and flats.

June to October is the principal dry season and usually brings the strongest river-centered concentrations. Short rains often fall in November-December and long rains in March-May, creating greener, more dispersed wildlife landscapes.
Arusha anchors the Across Safari route. Tarangire lies south-west along the northern circuit and can connect onward toward Lake Manyara, Karatu, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti.
A long day trip is possible from the wider Arusha region, while an overnight or circuit stay gives more time to follow the river system.

The road from Arusha crosses working towns, farms, and pastoral lands. Treat the park as part of that inhabited Manyara landscape rather than an isolated wildlife product.
