Getting there

Road access is through Isiolo and Archer's Post. Buffalo Springs lies south of the Ewaso Nyiro opposite Samburu National Reserve and has its own reserve access arrangements.

Best time: The river is especially important during dry periods. Rains can green the plains while also changing tracks and crossings.
