Place

South Luangwa National Park

Nature

South Luangwa National Park, Eastern Province, Zambia

The Luangwa River, oxbow lagoons, riverine woodland, and mopane country sustain a rich valley ecosystem in eastern Zambia.

Visiting

Getting there

Mfuwe is the direct air and road gateway; overland travel from Lusaka normally follows the Great East Road toward Chipata before turning north.

Best time: Dry season concentrates wildlife and improves road access; the green season brings births, birds, storms and some camp or road closures.
